A Few Things You Should Know About Masturbation

Masturbation is a term used to describe the self-stimulation of genitalia in order to achieve sexual excitement and pleasure, usually until the moment of orgasm or sexual climax. In most cases, masturbation leads to orgasm by stroking, touching or massaging the clitoris and penis. Some women stimulate vagina in order to masturbate or use sex toys like vibrators to reach orgasm. But, who are the people who masturbate?

Masturbation is a very common behavior and despite the popular belief even people with a sexual partner often masturbate. According to some studies 9 out of 10 men and 8 out of 10 women, masturbate. Masturbation is the first sexual act experienced by men and women. In young people, masturbation is viewed as a normal part of the research of their bodies in their development. The vast majority of people continue masturbating even when they grow up and most of them practice masturbation until they die.

There are many reasons why people masturbate. Besides the good feeling, masturbation is an excellent way to lower the sexual tension which can develop after a long time of sexual inactivity. This is especially useful for people who don’t have a partner or in cases when the partner is not in the mood for sex or when the partner is not at home. This practice is also a safe alternative for people who want to avoid pregnancy and the dangers and risks of sexually transmitted diseases. Sometimes, this practice is necessary like when men need to provide semen sample for sterility testing or for sperm donation. When it comes to sexual dysfunction in adults, experts recommend masturbation in order to experience the feeling of orgasm or to postpone orgasm (usually in men with premature ejaculation problem).

People are often wondering whether masturbation is normal. In the past, this practice was considered to be a perverse act or a sign of mental problems. However, masturbation today is accepted as a healthy sexual activity which is acceptable, sage and pleasant. This is a great way to experience sexual pleasure. Masturbation can become a problem only in cases when it inhibits the sexual activity with a partner, when it is carried out in public places or when it is painful. The pain is usually caused if we overdo this activity or if we have an aggressive or inadequate approach. While we are talking about pain it is also good to discuss whether masturbation is harmful or not.

Generally speaking, medical experts agree that masturbation is harmless and completely normal reflection of sexuality in both men and women. It doesn’t result in any physical injuries and doesn’t harm the body. It can be implemented as normal sexual behavior on the course of anyone’s life.

There are certain cultures and religions that oppose masturbation and describe this activity as a sinful act. This is why many people feel ashamed and guilty when they masturbate. However, many experts have confirmed that masturbation improves sexual health and sexual relationships.
